En el marco del Plan Territorial de Desarrollo Integral del departamento de Tarija,el Plan Director de Cuenca del Río Guadalquivir, las metas del Plan de DesarrolloEconómico y Social (PDES) y de las Contribuciones Nacionalmente Determinadas (NDC) referidas al incremento del almacenamiento de agua, así como la ampliaciónde tierras de cultivo, entre otros; se ha priorizado la optimización del denominado Sistema deRiego San Jacinto -CENAVIT-Calamuchita. Este sistema transporta agua desde la represa de SanJacinto hasta la zona de cultivo de uva del Valle Central de Tarija y a la región de Calamuchita(sureste) donde se cultiva principalmente maíz y hortalizas.
In the framework of the Territorial Plan for Integrated Development of the department of Tarija, the Management Plan of the Guadalquivir basin and the goals of the national Planfor Economic and Social Development (PDES) and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) related to increased water storage capacity and expansion ofcropland, among others, the optimization of the so-called “San Jacinto-CENAVIT-CalamuchitaIrrigation System” has been prioritized. This system transports water from the San Jacinto damto the grape-cultivated area of the Central Valley of Tarija and up to the Calamuchita region(southeast) where mostly maize and vegetables are cultivated.
